I need to design a preparation program on Holy Orders. After that I need to design one on Annointing of the Sick. I have already completed the other 5 Sacrament events and now I feel stuck! I would appreciate your HELP.<BR>Mary Lou LaBarge
We are heading into a season on sacraments. Any creative ideas from your experience on tactile, symbolic things on water, fire, bread, oil would be welcome at jeanfitz16@aol.com
I downlowded all the Web site info, if anyone has more On holy orders please email to b.clappin@excite.com, we will be doing the program in may, any help will be greatly appreciated.
For our session on Holy Orders, we also showed the video "Fishers of Men", and then we followed with a mock ordination in church. We had some boys from the group who volunteered to act as men being ordained, and our pastor re-enacted an Ordination ceremony acting the part of the bishop. Since most of us had never attended an actual ordination, this was very nice to see. It was very moving and beautifully done, and we received a very positive response from those who attended. For our session on Anointing of the Sick, we invited anyone from the parish who wished to participate, and we actually had a ceremony where anyone who wished to receive the sacrament could do so. For the session on Baptism, we welcomed three children from the same family who took turns, and one of them was actually baptized at each of the sessions. This was especially good, since one of them chose full immersion and everyone at the session could see what was going on. Everyone seemed to enjoy the live approach where they could see and also participate.
We are facilitating the sacraments this year. I would be so, so grateful if someone could provide ideas and resource names for children's activities and lessons. reindersc@sainttheresemilwaukee.org (Please put GOF Discussion in the Subject).
We just completed the year of Sacraments. We began Holy Orders with a very personal depiction of our parish' s leadership. Since we have a " religious sister" as a pastoral associate we extended Holy Orders to include Vowed Religious. We put a film together of our Priest ,the 3 Deacons, and Vowed Religious. We included pictures and commentary from their personal witness stories about their lives. Then we played a game where the audience had to identify who was who. It was fun and engaging. We then used portions of the Fishers of Men and portions of the movie Saint of 9-11. The kids were really engaged with the Saint of 9-11. For Anointing we actually began with an anointing each night. Also we had anointings at all Masses during our GIFT week. We felt that especially children needed to see the sacrament before we could teach to it.
Our sessions are on the sacraments this year. If anyone is willing to share what you've done with your adults in the break out sessions and with your home kits, we could use the help. We're beginning with Anoiting of the Sick. Suggestions for the other portions of the session or for the other sacraments are definitely welcome too. Please add "GOF" as part the subject in the subject line. Thanks. justemai2009@yahoo.com
